I am a huge fan of
Chris Yost and
Craig Kyle's current
X Force. And I just found Yost's
Twitter account today! Yay!
Yost/Kyle have been a writing team that has pretty much defined themselves as the blood and guts duo. From their hyper violent
X-23 miniseries to blowing up bus-loads of X-teens in
New X-Men last year, you can never be quite sure who is going to make it out alive in one of their books.
I think that's kind of what I like about X Force.
It's carnage and candy. It's bloody disgusting, but it's a lot of fun.
The current story line centers around the
Leper Queen, who I first remember seeing during the
Decimation two years ago. I was kind of intrigued by her, and it's cool to see Kyle/Yost do something with the character. I like seeing
Clayton Crain's rendition of the Leper Queen as well. His art is mind blowing and she is very creepy looking!
The story itself is very twisted. An anti mutant group is kidnapping mutants and ampping up their powers, causing them to go violently haywire. They set them loose in public places and inevitably kill innocent humans in the process. Ironically,
Heroes has a simliar storyline going on. The final page of the issue is a big time cliff hanger too!
I highly recommend X Force. Issue 12 hit stands this past Wednesday. Go check it out!
